I have this happen to me all the time when I launch NNW after a few hours.
Which version are you running? (It says at the bottom of the Settings screen.)
Build 7005. It happened just earlier today too. Usually I have left the app with a particular feed open (not article).
I’ve been having this and a show all feeds, then hide all feeds cleans it up usually
