Using Feedly for syncing?

I’ve been using Feedly ever since Google Reader went away. I think I want to use something different and I’m trying out NNW, I’ve heard many good things. Should I use Feedly for syncing or iCloud or ??

I read RSS feeds about equally on Mac (Sequoia) and iPhone and iPad. Thanks for advice!

I’m using a self-hosted instance of FreshRSS as my backend to NetNewsWire.

I was in the same boat, when G Reader went away I migrated to Feedly, service, web and app.

Both the web and app have been unchanged for such a long time, that I started trying others and I migrated to Inoreader for sync service and web reading. What I like about Inoreader, that Feedly does not have is the ability to read full text.

For iOS app I use NNW with Inoreader sync.

The various systems are all pretty good.

The one that has the biggest drawbacks may be iCloud — there’s no browser-based version and it doesn’t work if you have an Android, Linux, or Windows machine.

Also: iCloud sometimes gets into a state where it can take hours to sync. This is usually when setting up NetNewsWire fresh on a new device, when it has to do an initial sync. It can also happen when you haven’t launched NetNewsWire on a device in several months. The other systems are much more efficient.

That said, iCloud is a popular choice, and it’s (sort of) free, or at least not another subscription you’re buying just for feed reading.

If it is any consolation, I too moved to Feedly from Google Reader when it joined https://killedbygoogle.com

I made the choice to go to iCloud as I didn’t want to rely on another 3rd party that could unilaterally tell me to get fsck-ed … assuming that Apple would be a good Internet citizen (I’m re-evaluating that curently). But, in all fairness, aside from the initial sync issue (it doesn’t always happen) it has been rock solid and fast to sync between mac, iPad and iPhone.

Thanks everyone for the thoughts and advice. I’m not actually paying for Feedly I don’t think, I got a “lifetime” subscription early on. So as long as the syncing works I guess no reason to change horses midstream.
