RSS feed discovery

Seems like a lot of blogs have an RSS feed URL in their header, but don’t surface the feed in the UI. I’m wondering whether it would be practical for NNW to accept a blog URL and dig the RSS URL out of the HEAD. I can view the page source and find it, but that seems like a lot to ask of random users.

NetNewsWire does look in the head section of the document to find the feed URL — do you have an example of a page where that’s not working as expected?

I do not, but neither was I aware that it was even an option (and I’ve been using NNW for a very long time). If I do find one, I’ll pass it along.

Thanks.

FWIW I regularly paste the site’s URL in the add new feed dialogue. NNW generally adds a feed to my list, unless there is none on the site. If there isn’t, I move on. It’s pretty much how I’ve been adding feeds for a long time.

The only exception is YouTube, that for some unkown reason, :poop:s the bed of its RSS feeds often. I make a note and try another day.

I use the browser plugin “get rss feed url” on chrome and firefox to see what’s available on a site. I didn’t know NNW looked for a feed. I will try that next.
