The latest beta, available via check-for-updates if you have test builds enabled, runs on macOS 15. I know a bunch of people were hoping for that, and here it is.
Testing is difficult for me, though I do have a macOS 15 computer available so I can do some testing.
So all the help testing we can get from macOS 15 users is very appreciated!
Thanks! First thing I noticed is that the unread counts seem rather low contrast: both the numbers have gone darker and the black background has disappeared. This could be by design? But I would prefer a little more contrast.
When the app has focus, the icon/search bar above the article changes to a darker colour. On v6, it’s always the same colour as the one above the articles list. Again not sure if this is by design. If it is; in my view, it doesn’t add any info/meaning so it’s just distracting.
Have to agree on the lack of contrast - it was the first thing that struck me.
Peering at grey on grey isn’t my idea of fun
Comparing the 2, I can see the new sidebar background colour is slightly darker, but only a little, so I think its the lack of highlighting on the unread count that makes the real difference.
And I think thats a huge change in the experience - I know what feeds I have so the count is what my eye is scanning for.
And, of course, choosing what to read next is the major function of a feed reader IMHO
Apart from that, I haven’t noticed any differences yet
MacOS 15 holdout here

Thank you so much for continuing to support macOS 15 with the new updates. I have my heels dug in pretty firmly for not upgrading to Tahoe, so it’s a relief to know that doesn’t mean losing access to the latest NNW updates.
I’ve just signed up to this forum just to thank you!
I’m planning on never updating to macOS Tahoe or later (unless Apple removes Liquid Glass and reverts back to some more sensible interface), so I’m super happy to see NetNewsWire still being updated for the older macOS version.
