When I drag an item in a source list on macOS, I expect that if the drop destination is out of view, I should be able to drag toward the top or bottom of the source list and it should start scrolling so that I can drop the item where I want it to go. Unfortunately, this doesn’t happen so I seem to be unable to move a feed from a folder that has dozens of feeds into a different folder that appears way above it in the list.
Another thing I tried is to use the Feed Inspector panel, but this doesn’t have a picker for folders in it either.
I’m not sure if this is a bug or a feature request, so I wanted to get feedback here before opening a ticket on GitHub. Thanks
It’s do-able, but you’ve got to drag to just the right area at the top or bottom of the feeds list and then hold your drag.
Annoying, but it’s how Apple’s standard sidebar list works (which we use).
I’ve been planning to add a Move command which would make this easier, so you don’t have to drag and drop, but I can’t guarantee when that feature would appear.
Is it possible to use the mouse scroll wheel to invoke a scrollbar action? That’s the only/efficient way to, e.g., move files around in the Finder, imo.
I use a mouse, not a trackpad. Now, I have two mice: one very old Apple Pro Mouse without a scroll wheel, and another Magic Mouse which supports multitouch. I was not successful with in enacting this gesture with the Magic Mouse sadly.
In any case, I think this is a macOS usability issue rather than a problem with NetNewsWire specifically.
