HTTP 500 error on macOS

I’ve been getting HTTP 500 errors from bazqux for the last 3 days but only on macOS (NetNewsWire 7.1 and 7.1.1 running on Tahoe 26.5.1 and 26.5.2). No problems syncing & getting new articles on iOS and iPadOS.

Error log shows:
[2026-06-30 13:09:54] BazQux — Sending article status: HTTP 500: internal server error (RSWeb.WebserviceError 0) (Account/ReaderAPIAccountDelegate.swift:sendArticleStatusReturningCount(for:):222)

And the Activity log shows this set of 4 messages repeating:

[2026-06-30 13:09:54] ✓ BazQux: Refreshing feed list (0.56s) — 28 feeds, 7 folders
[2026-06-30 13:09:54] ✗ BazQux: Sending statuses #4 — HTTP 500: internal server error
[2026-06-30 13:09:54] ✗ BazQux: Sending statuses — HTTP 500: internal server error
[2026-06-30 13:09:54] ✗ BazQux: Refresh all — HTTP 500: internal server error

Checking my Time Machine backups it looks like the errors started right after I upgraded NetNewsWire to 7.1.

I think your best bet is to:

  1. Make sure the online version is in the state you want it to be in
  2. Delete the account from NetNewsWire
  3. Re-add the account to NetNewsWire

This should hopefully clear out whatever is causing the issue. If it continues after doing the above, then let me know and we can investigate further.

That does seem to have fixed things. I’ll let you now if it starts happening again.
