How to load feed content in iCloud account feeds

This is a continuation of a discussion I started earlier ( Not getting feeds after moving to new Mac ) about a problem I’ve been having with syncing iCloud feeds between a new MacBook Pro and my iOS devices.

After some more fiddling around, I’ve managed to get the feeds to synch as far as getting the same ones on each device. But after several hours, I’m not seeing any unread content items for the iCloud account on the device most recently set up for iC;loud. To be more specific, I set up the iCloud account on my Mac. Then I deleted NNW from my iPhone and installed a new copy from the App Store and added the iCloud account in Settings. None of the content loaded and the unread count has not appeared on any of the feeds.. I looked at the iCloud Statistics and saw that it was reporting several dozen unread items. I tried changing the name of one feed and checked to see that it had changed on my Mac as well.I’ve been seeing the unread counts increase in some of the feeds on my Mac, but none have appeared on my iPhone all day long. I also dragged a feed from the “On My iPhone” folder into the iCloud list and checked to see that it appeared in the iCloud feed listing on my Mac, but none of the unread items appeared. The error log on the iPhone is empty. The time interval for refreshing iCloud content is set to 1/2 hour.

Your iPhone is still doing its initial sync, which can take a long time — hours, even.

Things to do:

  1. Turn off syncing article content, if you haven’t already. That won’t make things faster right now, but it will in the future.
  2. See this iCloud troubleshooting page with tips on making that initial sync complete: https://netnewswire.com/help/iCloud.html
