Is it in the works, or could it be added to the list of features?
I’d like to have a keyword filter for feed articles. Example, to get rid of those trashy “promo” ads in feeds like Wired, or other keywords to block out articles containing subjets that could be triggering/annoying/DAPS/etc.
Ideally (for me) the article would still be downloaded and hidden so it could be revealed if so desired by the reader. The Ivory client does this well (although it shows there is a post and that it is filtered, showing the name of the filter), which is fine for Mastodon.
Personally, I’d prefer not to see them at all in NNW, and have a switch to show/hide filtered articles much like the read/unread functionality, which I think would work better in the RSS context.
There was some discussion about this on the GitHub issue for the design of a smart feeds system. I don’t know if such a feature is in the works (or even planned) but in the mean time there are some RSS services supported by NNW (e.g. Feedbin) that already offer functionality along those lines.
I should have been a little more descriptive, as I don’t use any other service and sync with iCloud. Which is why I think a filter like this is best as part of the app rather than an external service. I’m not interested in using an external service. Best.
I’d like to get around to both filters and smart feeds, for sure. But we have some other priorities (bug fixes, tech debt, troubleshooting additions) to do first.
