Would I glean any benefit from changing the sync account apart from possibly more stability across devices syncing the same feeds?
Just for my iPhone, would feeds come through faster if I used Feedbin over iCloud? Or more reliable background refresh? I generally use one device, so perhaps the sync question is redundant, I’m just looking for the best reliability in terms of pulling feeds in.
It’s impossible to say whether or not iCloud would be faster than Feedbin (or other system) at how soon you get feed updates. Probably would vary feed by feed and day by day.
If you’re not syncing at all, just using an On My iPhone account is probably the best bet.
On the issue of background refreshes: the system decides how often NetNewsWire can run in the background. It’s based on how much you use NetNewsWire (and also that you don’t force-quit it). Your choice of sync system won’t affect how often NetNewsWire does background refreshes.
However, each background refresh gets only so much time. It’s more likely to do a complete sync with Feedbin (or similar system) than with iCloud. Not that it can’t complete using iCloud, just that Feedbin (and similar) are more efficient.
