Custom Smart Feeds?

I know that this isn’t really normal behaviour since most people use some kind of central feed aggregator these days. I happened to stop using one because I needed to trim expenses and I was only using my iPad to read anyway. But then I had to return the iPad (corporate device) and set up a new device with all the feeds I had exported from the iPad.

In this case, with several thousand unread articles, I’d love to be able to say “all articles published before January 1 can be considered read”… and before I finished my thought, I realized that the Today smart feed achieves this to some extent. I just happen to want a “Year to date” or “Last 30 days” smart feed. Doable? I’m not seeing anything in the help.

We have several feature requests for custom smart feeds on our bug tracker. It’s a good idea and I’m sure we’ll get to it (though I can’t predict when).

In the meantime, if you just want to mark a bunch of older articles as read, go to the All Unread feed. Scroll to the first article older than whatever your cutoff date is, then long press. Choose Mark Above as Read or Mark Below as Read (depending on your sort settings) to mark older articles as read.

Oh duh. I should have thought to use the All feed for that. Thank you!
