Crash bugs appear to be fixed with 7004 for iOS

Here’s the story of crash rates (crashes / number of sessions) for the iOS 7.0 betas:

7000: 38.6%
7001: 3.3%
7002: 2.0%
7003: 2.5%
7004: 0.1%

7004 has exactly one crash so far, and it’s caused by an Apple bug — a crash in WebKit. Unfortunately there’s nothing we can do about this bug in NetNewsWire.

Given the amount of work we did on 7.0 — as we adopted Swift structured concurrency, which touched everything, and Liquid Glass, which meant a bunch of UI rewrites, I expected we might have had more crashing bugs.

At any rate — please keep filing bugs via TestFlight, this forum, and via the bug tracker. Your feedback is much appreciated!

This might be of interest — here’s NetNewsWire’s historic crash rate going back to 2020. There’s a big spike just over a year ago (due to an iOS change) and an extended elevation from July 2021 to August 2022.

To be clear: this is for the shipping app, not for beta releases.
