Any chance the macOS version could get the dark mode icon like iOS?

The Liquid Glass version of NetNewsWire looks great in-app. But the icon in dark mode is still blue – unlike the iOS icon which gained proper dark mode support last year. I’m not sure whether either of them got the Icon Composer glass redesign (if I switch to clear or tinted icons, the Mac version icon changes, so I’m not sure exactly what’s going on), but wondering if this is on the list? It stands out a bit in my dock! Thanks

This has been discussed on GitHub (primary discussion regarding the layered icon: https://github.com/Ranchero-Software/NetNewsWire/issues/4660, while the implementation of the icon was then discussed in the larger liquid glass update issue.)

In short, the layered app icon is being worked on, but that wasn’t seen as necessary to wait for when it comes to the larger 7.0 update (which I can agree with when it comes to update priorities.) As such, it’s now assigned under the 7.1 update milestone currently being worked on.

I’m sure the updated app icon will have full light/dark support across all platforms (as well as tinting, clear/glass, etc.) as I actually proposed a version in that link above that provides all of these based on the previous icon design & was informed, completely understandably, that they want the icon designer they’ve worked with in the past create the new icon (while I still provided all of my working files just in case that might help them in any way as it really is the existing icon fully SVG-ified, layered, styled for the new glass icon aesthetics, and accommodated for any/all style variations a user might choose [which is, again, fully understandable if they don’t use what I provided as I just wanted an excuse to use the Icon Composer for the new icons :+1:.])

Ah, good to see this is already underway. And I’m fine with it coming in 7.1 – it totally makes sense with the scope of the 7.0 updates that a line needs to be drawn somewhere to ship it!
