Hi everyone,

First of all, I just wanted to say that I really love NetNewsWire. It’s a fantastic app — simple, fast, reliable, and exactly what I want from an RSS reader. I genuinely enjoy using it.

There is just one small aspect of the app that I’ve never been particularly fond of: the current icon. Of course, design is very subjective, but personally I feel the icon doesn’t quite reflect how polished and modern the rest of the app feels.

So, purely as a friendly suggestion, I created an alternative icon concept and wanted to share it here with the community and the developers.

I tried to keep it clean, recognizable, and very much in line with the visual language of iOS, while still making it immediately clear that NetNewsWire is a news/RSS app.

**Here’s the icon I came up with:**

 ![image](https://discourse.netnewswire.com/uploads/default/original/1X/6952c97c5c1d04be6780744a46b75a5084296994.jpeg)

I completely understand that branding decisions involve much more than personal preference, and I don’t mean this as criticism of the work that has already gone into the app. I simply thought it could be an interesting option for a future redesign — or perhaps even as an alternative app icon.

Thanks to everyone involved in NetNewsWire for making such a great app.

Nice app icon — good work! We don’t intend to make any changes to our current app icon, but this is indeed very nicely done.

NetNewsWire has had some variant of a satellite icon since I started using it (in 2003?) and it’s a very distinctive part of the brand. This icon, while nice, looks pretty similar to about 500 RSS readers I’ve seen in the App Store, and it’d be losing a lot.

So I really like the NNW icon! I just wish it got Liquid Glass support so it properly supported tinted and dark modes!
